Kingstone Lectures | Understanding Everyday Aches, Numbness, and the Body’s Warning Signs

KYF held the 10th session of its lecture series, inviting physical therapist Chen-Yi Wang to speak on the topic “Hard-to-Describe Discomfort: From Common Aches and Numbness to Proper Management.” The session introduced employees to common issues such as aches, numbness, and pain that may occur in daily life and at work, while helping them better understand the warning signs their bodies may be sending.

Using familiar workplace scenarios, Chen-Yi Wang explained that maintaining the same posture for long periods, repetitive movements, or improper work habits can all contribute to cumulative physical strain. He also shared common causes of lower back pain, neck and shoulder discomfort, and wrist numbness, reminding employees that seemingly minor discomfort may often be closely connected to posture, daily habits, and work patterns.

The lecture also highlighted the importance of addressing discomfort appropriately. Through practical self-assessment methods and daily self-care practices, employees were encouraged to pay closer attention to their physical condition. With clear explanations and relatable examples, the session helped employees bring health awareness into both their work and everyday lives.

Health and workplace safety have always been an important part of employee wellness. Through this lecture, KYF hopes to remind employees not to overlook the warning signs from their bodies, even during busy workdays.
