Taiwan’s first PET flat packaging closed-loop recycling station officially opened on August 28, 2024.

King Yuan Fu took the lead in partnering with Carrefour and Boretech, establishing Taiwan’s first PET flat packaging closed-loop recycling facility at the Carrefour Kaohsiung Love River store.

 

To promote domestic plastic recycling and waste reduction, and in response to the Ministry of the Environment’s plan to include flat packaging materials in recycling management next year,King Yuan Fu has taken the lead in partnering with Carrefour and Boretech. Together, they have established Taiwan’s first PET flat packaging closed-loop recycling facility at Carrefour Kaohsiung Love River store. The facility officially opened on August 28, 2024 (as shown in the image above), with officials from the Ministry of the Environment present to provide guidance. We warmly welcome everyone to visit the store and join us in participating in the green recycling journey.

After Carrefour collects the #1 PET flat packaging materials for recycling, they are sent to the Boretech factory for cleaning and pelletizing. Our company then reprocesses them into new flat packaging materials, which are supplied back to Carrefour for product packaging. This process creates a continuous recycling loop, eliminating the need for new plastic materials and achieving the goal of a ‘closed-loop cycle.’ This can reduce carbon emissions by 56%. In 2022, the Ministry of Health and Welfare approved the use of recycled RPET pellets as domestic food packaging materials. After considering factors such as corporate social responsibility, energy saving, and carbon reduction, Carrefour has gradually adopted 100% RPET food packaging materials produced by our company. These materials have passed the Ministry of the Environment’s plastic recycling content verification and are sourced from Polyplast, a resource recycling technology company certified by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. With guaranteed food safety, Carrefour is leading the way in contributing to Taiwan’s environmental sustainability.
