KYF Collaborates with Farmers to Promote Rational Fertilization
Promoting Scientific Fertilization to Safeguard Water Quality and Soil Health
KYF is actively engaged in environmental sustainability initiatives and has participated for two consecutive years in the “Rational Fertilization Program” promoted by the Water Resources Agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This program utilizes soil testing and data analysis to help farmers adjust fertilizer usage based on the actual needs of crops, effectively reducing chemical fertilizer use and non-point source agricultural pollution, thereby protecting water quality and maintaining soil health.
According to 2024 trial data from green bamboo shoot fields, total phosphorus was reduced by up to 83%, delivering significant benefits for water quality conservation in the Shimen Reservoir watershed. By implementing farmland management and nutrient balance practices, KYF is advancing both agricultural productivity and environmental protection in parallel.
Contract Farming Supports Local Agriculture, Driving Both Economic and Environmental Gains
To strengthen partnerships with farmers, KYF actively promotes a contract farming mechanism. In 2025, the company directly purchased 200 catties of green bamboo shoots from partnered farmers. This approach not only secures sales channels and stabilizes farmers’ income but also led to an approximate 4% increase in average net income among participating farmers—demonstrating KYF’s concrete support for local agriculture and sustainable livelihoods.
By jointly advancing contract farming and rational fertilization, KYF is helping farmers transition to more eco-friendly farming practices while building a mutually beneficial value chain between the company and rural communities.
Diversified Use of Results to Share the Benefits of Sustainability
- Sustainability Performance Recognition
Green bamboo shoots were given as a token of appreciation to employees with outstanding energy-saving and sustainability improvement proposals, symbolizing continued progress and recognition of their contributions. - Healthy Meals for Employees
During the solar term “Minor Heat,” KYF incorporated chilled bamboo shoots into employee meals, helping staff replenish nutrients and stay cool during the summer while fostering a healthier workplace environment. - Shared Meals with Community Seniors
Bamboo shoots were also delivered to senior meal centers in Shulin Zunmin Village, Yingge Yongchang Village, and the Dongshan Evergreen Canteen, allowing KYF to share healthy produce and corporate care with local communities, promoting intergenerational inclusion.
Through these three initiatives, KYF extends the value of sustainable agricultural products beyond the fields to the workplace and the community, embodying a multi-dimensional approach to corporate social responsibility.
Aligning with SDGs and Strengthening GRI Implementation
This initiative reflects KYF’s dual commitment to environmental and social responsibility, while directly supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 15: Life on Land. It also serves as a key disclosure highlight under the Social (S) and Environmental (E) dimensions of KYF’s GRI Sustainability Report.
Moving forward, KYF will continue to deepen agricultural partnerships, protect natural resources, and engage with local communities through cross-departmental collaboration and localized implementation, steadily advancing toward shared value for business, society, and the environment.
