Kingstone Lectures (Lesson 8)<\/b> We were honored to invite Mr. Fang Ho-Sheng, Chairman, and Mr. Lin Meng-Wei, Secretary-General of the Taiwan People\u2019s Food Bank Association, to share insights on the current operations of Taiwan\u2019s food banks, their achievements in digital transformation, and their contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\nDigital Empowerment: Building a Resilient Social Welfare System<\/b><\/h4>\n
With a background in technology management, Secretary-General Lin Meng-Wei explained the integration of data and smart systems into food bank operations. Through digital management, the association has effectively addressed challenges in resource distribution and enhanced aid efficiency. This digital transformation has established a more resilient sustainable development model for Taiwan\u2019s social welfare organizations, ensuring resources are precisely allocated to vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n

Chairman Fang Ho-Sheng shared his 27 years of extensive experience in community service. He emphasized that the core of a food bank goes beyond “distributing supplies”; it is about “resource regeneration” and “restoring dignity.” He introduced the philosophy of “turning the useless into useful,” where surplus food is redistributed through a comprehensive logistics and preservation system. This achieves the dual goals of food waste reduction and support for the underprivileged. Chairman Fang also shared his vision to establish food banks across all 319 townships in Taiwan, weaving a comprehensive social safety net.<\/p>\n

The event also welcomed the local “Yongchang Village Development Association.” Through cross-organizational exchange, the lecture helped strengthen local knowledge of “community refrigerators,” working together to realize a sustainable cycle of community well-being.<\/p>\n
